Next Ocean began with a bold idea: use sea clutter to predict vessel motion. What started as PhD research by Peter Naaijen became a mission when he teamed up with Karel Roozen.
Their goal was clear: use existing radar, keep it simple, and make offshore work safer. Today, their vision is a reality on vessels across the globe.

Founded in 2016 as a Delft University spin-off, Next Ocean transforms research into practical offshore tools. Our motion prediction system is now used on vessels worldwide, reducing risk and increasing vessel uptime. As we scale up, we remain focused on delivering real-time insight where it matters most.

The system “reads” the seas, day and night
