August 27, 2026 Motion radar technology to support safer transfers on Dudgeon windfarm operations
NextOcean has been awarded a contract to supply its motion radar system for operations aboard the Service Operation Vessel (SOV) ESVAGT NJORD. The SOV operated by Danish vessel owner ESVAGT, will use the motion radar to support safer and more efficient operations during its ongoing work on the Dudgeon offshore wind farm from this month.
This deployment marks another step in NextOceans mission to make offshore operations safer, more predictable and efficient through real-time wave and vessel motion intelligence. NextOcean systems are now active on vessels supporting operations around the world, spanning both the oil and gas and offshore wind industries, a track record that continues to grow as more vessel owners look to improve the safety and workability of their operations.
“On an SOV, the crew makes dozens of go/no-go calls a day. Our system shows the officer on watch what the vessel is going to do in the coming minutes, so that call is backed by verified predictions and not by feel alone. On a field like Dudgeon, where technicians need to get onto the turbine as often as the weather allows, that means both safer transfers and more workable days,” said Karel Roozen, CEO of NextOcean.
WavePredictor is one of NextOcean’s motion prediction systems, that is built for offshore support vessels and multi -purpose vessels operating in demanding sea states. It continuously scans the sea surface around the vessel measuring the waves in real time. Combined with advanced wave propagation algorithms, the system can predict vessel motions up to three minutes in advance. This technology reflects NextOcean’s broader mission to help the offshore industry work more safely and efficiently in demanding marine environments from oil and gas platforms to fast growing offshore wind sector.
